Child game and relay race

Have the children stand across from a partner. They should stand one foot apart. With each toss, the children should back up one step. Play until the eggs are destroyed and before the kids get bored. Use a tablespoon and a hard-boiled egg or plastic Easter egg and plastic spoon. Children try to walk fast holding the egg in the spoon to the finish line.

It can also be done as a relay and have one child in the middle of the race line waiting. Follow the Leader Instructions Give each child a tablespoon and a hard-boiled egg. The children form a line and one is the leader. Gather pumpkins, husk some corn, then rake up a big pile of leaves. Sound like the daily tasks of a farmer? Find out how to play these and other games with an autumn theme at a harvest festival , fall activity or party. To play this game, draw a large pumpkin on a piece of poster board.

Cut out a large mouth and then paint or color in the rest of the pumpkin. Prop the pumpkin poster board so that it stands at an angle in such a way that things can pass through the mouth, or attach your pumpkin picture to something like a homemade cornhole game board.

Give each player three ears of corn. Have them stand behind a line that is a few feet away from the mouth of the pumpkin, and try to feed the pumpkin by tossing the corn into the mouth.

The player with the most points after everyone has taken a turn is the winner. This is a race that can be run as a one-against-one game or relay-style when you have several players to divide into teams.

Either way, the goal of each racer is to roll a pumpkin from the starting line to the finish line. Sounds easy? Well, not when you have to push your pumpkin with a broom, guiding it to try and stay on course as it rolls off to one side or gets caught up on its stem.

The first player or team to get their pumpkin across the finish line wins. This is a fun game that is easy for small kids to play. Fill a few receptacles, such as wheelbarrows, large tin buckets, baby pools, or large cardboard boxes, with hay. To play this game, you will need plenty of autumn leaves. You can save the ones you rake from your yard in large bags until ready to play.

Divide the players into two teams. Place two hula hoops on the ground in the yard. Pour out the leaves around the yard. Give each team a rake, and set a timer. The first player from each team gets on the trike and must peddle it to the turn around point and back to their team. Then the next player does the same thing. The first team that has all players complete the course wins.

If a player falls off the trike they can get back on and start from where they fell off the trike. Teams try to go around the course pulling a wagon full of balls and not letting any of them fall out. Divide into teams and give each a wagon full of beach balls or playground balls.

Set a turnaround point at the other end of the game area that they have to pull the wagon around and then back to their team so that the next player on their team can take their turn.

Note: If any of the balls fall out of the wagon the player must stop and pick them up and put them back in the wagon before they can continue with the course. Water Bucket Relay Race Players race around an obstacle course and try to be the first team to fill their bucket with water. Before the game begins set up an obstacle course with picnic tables, chairs, tires, hula hoops, swingsets, etc.

Anything that kids can crawl through or climb across can be a part of the course. Set up a large container of water, that both teams will use, at the start of the course. Set up 2 equal size empty buckets at the end of the course, one for each team. Both teams get plastic cup. On "go" one player from each team will take the cup, fill it with water and race with it to the other end of the course and dump the water in their bucket.

Then they will run back through the obstacle course and hand off the plastic cup to the next player. The game continues until one team has their bucket completely full. The team that fills their bucket first wins the relay.

Teams line up across the game area with at least 5 feet of space between each player. They should be in a line that goes from the water source to their bucket at the other end of the game area. Players shouldn't be able to touch each others outstretched hands. On "go" the first player fills their cup with water and then tosses the water from their cup into the next players cup.

That player then tosses the water in their cup to the 3rd players cup. And on down the line until the end player tosses the water in their cup into the teams bucket.

There will be a lot of water lost during the transfer between the players until they get the hang of how to toss the water to each other without spilling.
