After one month, I am going to do some checks the discs and see what effect all this had.
But if you EAC a disc and burn it onto high quality archival media then I doubt the difference is pronounced. Last Edit : by HypnoToad.
What ABX? Just compare the bits. Surely you do not want to accept any bit error. If so, ABX-ing is pointless. Just compare the data. The only trick is the offset of the drive, of course, but there are wave comparators that sort that out. But I was going to test the discs' bits as well. I had one of these Yamaha F1 recorders. I might be buying a turkey then, but still the idea interests me enough to give it a whirl!
We'll see if this is wise or not in a few weeks time David. IIRC, AMQR doesn't actually increase sound quality, it just decreases the chances for clicks and pops that come from badly burned pits. HypoToad, Fair enough, but if it is a bitperfect copy using the drive you use for listening, then pointless what you do. In fact even on logical ground you do not make sense.
This information is used to properly configure the drive for optimal burning on the specific media in use.
SpeedRead: provides maximum speed with data reliability. This helps out in situations where a burned CD may not work in some players, but will in others. For more information, Click Here.
The last thing we wanted to note, before we get to the installation and setup, is the black CD tray. According to Plextor the use of a black tray aids in burning quality. Supposedly the black plastic absorbs reflected laser light better then white trays, thus increasing reliability and reducing the chance of possible errors caused by "jitter.
Well there you have it folks, let's move past all the visual appearances, marketing and other technical jargon and see how this drive actually holds up. Setup, Installation and Software. Search all.
